Sofrito Manifesto in New York City

On May 21st, I had the honor of attending the presentation of the book “Sofrito Manifesto” part 1, 2 and 3 by the Puerto Rican artist Bernardo Medina in New York City. These books are filled with recipes and stories, along with incredible photographs that complement their content. When you see them, you realize that their quality makes them perfect for placing on the coffee table in the living room, where guests can enjoy not only the recipes and stories but also the images, which beautifully capture the essence of the book.

The other night, I sat on the sofa to go through the second book, and as I read its introduction, I noticed that I had placed the first book of the collection on the coffee table, right in front of me. At that precise moment, the introduction read: “…the book is a coffee table book meant to be in the living room, right next to the MoMA book.” And, to my surprise, that was exactly what I saw.

As an artist, I also have many art books on my coffee table, and “Sofrito Manifesto” was, indeed, right next to a MoMA book.

Congratulations, Bernardo! Excellent work. I wish you much success and thank you for allowing me to be part of this wonderful event.
